What is OTOP?

OTOP products or the One Tambon (Subdistrict) One Product project is a policy that was created to stimulate the Thai economy by transforming the unique wisdom of villagers in each province into a variety of products, such as food, handicrafts, weaving, and knitting.

In addition to stimulating the economy to recover, it also helps spread culture through Thai products to the eyes of the world. Currently, OTOP products are sold both in Thailand and abroad, which is considered an extension for villagers to bring out the strengths of their local products to create good quality products.

One Tambon (Subdistrict) One Product is one approach to create prosperity for communities to improve the quality of life of people in the community by producing or managing local resources to become quality products with their unique strengths that are consistent with the culture of each locality and can be sold in both domestic and international markets. There are 3 basic principles:

1. Local wisdom to the world (Local Yet Global)
2. Self-reliance and creative thinking (Self-Reliance-Creativity)
3. Human Resource Development

Products do not only mean the product itself but also the thought process and services. Caring for the conservation of natural resources and the environment, preserving Thai wisdom, tourism, arts, culture, traditions, developing local wisdom, exchanging knowledge to become quality products with distinctive features, selling points that are widely known throughout the country and the world.
